Sam was interviewed on ABC’s national news program after taking part in BrightSky & Forward Ability Support’s Live Well Together surf event at URBNSURF Sydney. The event brought more than 35 people with spinal cord injuries into the water to surf, reconnect and share experiences.
Many participants returned to the ocean for the first time in years. Some tried surfing for the first time. The wave pool and adaptive equipment created a safe setup that helped everyone feel supported. The energy in and around the water felt positive and inclusive.
Sam said it was an awesome day and she hopes BrightSky can run more of these events. She said it was a great chance for people to get back in the water, try something new and rebuild confidence.
The event highlighted the impact of adaptive surf days and how they strengthen community. It showed how powerful it can be when people come together, support each other and enjoy a shared experience. The ABC covered the event on their national news program, and the video captures the atmosphere and connection felt across the whole day.
Together, Forward Ability Support and BrightSky create opportunities that lift people up. Events like Live Well Together show how committed they are to building community and creating moments that help people feel supported, capable and connected. Sam Bloom is very happy to work with BrightSky and support their mission to create these positive experiences for people living with spinal cord injuries.
